Plantar warts are most commonly found on the bottom of the feet but, can sometimes be found on the hands. Youngsters tend to get plantar warts more often than grownups do.
Plantar warts are very painful. Warts on the bottom of a foot can almost disable some people because they feel like stones inside of your shoe and can become a major problem especially if growing is uncontrolled and you spend a lot of time on your feet.
What is unique about these warts is how they grow. Most warts grow outwards; however, planter warts, most likely because of their location, tend to grow inward.
On the soles of the feet they're very often flattened out by the pressure created when you are walking. Many times you'll notice they're also enclosed by thickened skin. This kind is unique because they are normally hard as well as flat. Their surface is rough and they have well-defined boundaries.
These warts can even be found occasionally on the top of the foot. Here they usually appear fleshier and are usually slightly raised. Plantar warts are usually gray or brown with a small black center. These black dots are actually tiny broken blood vessels. Also, they have a unique characteristic. They may bleed from many very small spots similar to pinpoints, especially when the surface is shaved or cut down while receiving medical treatment.
If you were to get a plantar wart on your fingers, you would find that you don't keep your fingerprints across the surface of the wart as you would a callous. Warts do not maintain fingerprints but get rid of them until the wart is removed from the finger.
The virus that brings you the stubborn and persistent plantar wart flourishes in a moist environment. Podiatrists suggest that when you're at swimming pools, health clubs and even in locker rooms don't ever go barefoot. At the very least wear common sandals.
