To Get Rid Of Oily Skin - You May Need To Change Your Personal Care Product

You might want to get rid of oily skin, but be careful not to overdo it. Using products that dry your face can cause you more long-term problems.

Generally speaking, people with oilier complexions have fewer wrinkles.

Dryness leads to sagging as the skin's cells become dehydrated.

When firmness is lost, wrinkles start to appear seemingly out of nowhere. All of the procedures currently available for reducing wrinkles start by improving the skin's firmness. All of the anti-aging creams on the market are primarily moisturizers, because moisture is what it takes to hydrate the cells and firm up saggy areas.

To address your current problem, without going overboard, you might consider using a deep cleansing mask containing kaolin and bentone gel. Kaolin and bentone gel are natural clay extracts. They gently unclog the pores and absorb excessive sebum. Sebum is what we commonly think of as oil on our skin.

In a very few cases, the skin's sebaceous glands are over-productive. It usually occurs during the teenage years when acne is common. It is believed to be caused by hormonal changes, although dietary factors may be involved.

Trying to get rid of oily skin when you live or work in a humid environment is hard. It can be even harder when it is hot.

Heat causes the sweat glands to secrete perspiration. Some perspiration is secreted directly onto the skin's surface. Some comes up through the hair-producing follicles, which is also where sebum is produced.

It is sometimes necessary to wash your face several times a day to keep when the weather is hot and humid or you work in a hot, humid environment. A good daily cleanser would contain natural ingredients like vegetable glycerin and active manuka honey.

Those ingredients won't get rid of oily skin, but they will clean without causing excessive dryness. The honey helps to prevent over-growth of bacteria, which can lead to pimples. Sebum and perspiration only become smelly when they mix with bacteria.

There are several plant extracts that are known to help balance sebum production. In other words, they will help prevent excessive oiliness and excessive dryness. Jojoba wax is one sebum-balancing ingredient. Maracuja is another.

Jojoba wax comes from the plant by the same name. It has proven benefits for a variety of skin conditions including acne and eczema.

Maracuja is a passion fruit extract containing essential fatty acids similar to those found in sebum. The fatty acids can trick the sebaceous glands into decreasing production, while the emollient activity of the extract soothes dry areas.

Last but not least, you should carefully evaluate the health and beauty aids you are currently using. Look at your shampoo, conditioner, body wash, foundation, concealer and other products. You are looking specifically for mineral oil, petrolatum, petroleum jelly or paraffin wax.

If the products you are using contain any of those ingredients, they are causing that greasy feeling you don't like.

In other words, you might not need to get rid of oily skin. You might just need to change your personal care products.
